This is how the 3rd Investment Workshop in Startups and Entrepreneurial Projects by BIC Araba went
One more year, BIC Araba and Metxa teamed up to organize the 3rd Edition of the Investment Workshop in Startups and Entrepreneurial Projects. Aimed at investors and individuals interested in exploring the world of startup investment—regardless of their level of experience—this three-day workshop tackled key topics through practical cases, interactive sessions, and the expertise of well-known analysts, investors, and entrepreneurs. And to bring theory into practice, real projects were pitched to participants and members of the startup ecosystem.
[Day 1]
▪️ Introduction to startup investment: David Montero de la Torre (BIC Araba) and Josetxu Silgo Hernández (Metxa) shared essential foundations, including investment stages and risk analysis.
▪️ Steps before investing: Mathieu Carenzo dove into diversification strategies and criteria for building a strong investment portfolio.
▪️ Working with entrepreneurs: Juanjo Torres Montesa (Dryfing) offered the entrepreneur’s perspective on building effective investor relationships.
▪️ Opportunity analysis: Laura Unzueta (Metxa) outlined methodologies for evaluating startups and conducting thorough due diligence.
▪️ Taxation in investment: Javier Valle Solano and Esther Martín García (PKF Attest) explained key tax aspects related to investing and exiting startups.
[Day 2]
▪️ Startup valuation: Toni Vera (Beringia Smart Money) presented methods for valuing startups and managing dilution across funding rounds.
▪️ Negotiation and deal formalization: Pedro Muñoz Baroja (Easo Ventures) and Guillermo Arregui (RADAR Ventures) discussed the negotiation process, including term sheets and shareholder agreements.
▪️ Shareholder agreements: Xabier Álvarez Lombardía (Lawesome) broke down essential clauses and best practices for solid partnership agreements.
